9:31PM - NaNoWriMo 2011
It's done! Both nanowrimo and the story I've been working on each nanowrimo for the past eight years are now finished. It's been a hell of a run filled with continuity errors, tense changes, story changes and all sorts of randomness, but I actually completed a full length original story. I've never done that before, so to me it's a big deal. ^_^
Editing this beast. . . well, that's best left for another day! ^_~

(click the link for the full article)
Our novel Stranger has five viewpoint characters; one, Yuki Nakamura, is
gay and has a boyfriend. Yuki's romance, like the heterosexual ones in
the novel, involves nothing more explicit than kissing.
An agent from a major agency, one which represents a bestselling YA novel in the same genre as ours, called us.
The agent offered to sign us on the condition that we make the gay
character straight, or else remove his viewpoint and all references to
his sexual orientation.
This isn't about that specific agent; we'd gotten other rewrite requests before this one. Previous agents had also offered to take a second look if we did rewrites… including cutting the viewpoint of Yuki, the gay character.
It's time to stand up and demand change. Spread the word everywhere if you are just as angry and outraged by this.

10:29PM - Neat quiz thing
Your dominant hues are cyan and green. Although you definately strive to be logical you care about people and know there's a time and place for thinking emotionally. Your head rules most things but your heart rules others, and getting them to meet in the middle takes a lot of your energy some days.
Your saturation level is medium - You're not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it's required of you. You probably don't think the world can change for you and don't want to spend too much effort trying to force it.
Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

10:05PM - What I've been watching
So I seem to be watching a bunch of streaming anime (a bunch is like, 4) series' recently and I thought I'd share!
Sekaichi Hatsukoi (crunchyroll)- this is by the Junjou Romantica people, and it shows. Very pretty, 3 different couples, and a TERRIBLE ending. As in no resolution whatsoever. Still fun to watch, but jeez, give me something to end with, lol.
Hanasaku Irohana (crunchyroll)- a highschool girl gets moved from Tokyo to go live with her grandmother in a far-off onsen (hotspring resort. . . though with my friendslist that would be reading this, I don't think I need to explain. -.-) This is a slice of life show (I have a weakness for those that cannot be explained) with a plucky heroine who slowly wins over the tough crowd (mostly, anyway). This show still has episodes running, so we'll see how things end up!
Tiger and Bunny (Viz)- Corporate branded heroes compete on a reality show to win best hero. At least, that's the surface of the show. Really it's all about the characters -- and later there is some darker plot and action that happens, so don't let the intro episodes put you off. . . if they do (they didn't for me!). Tiger is a simple guy who fights for justice and is put together with a cold-hearted fellow nicknamed Bunny (Barnaby is his real name). Of course they have that odd-couple thing going on, which works great! This show is utter fun! They just ended a big arc, but there is more on the way!
Toriko (Funimation)- Think Dragonball Z mixed with Food Network and you have Toriko. Toriko himself is on a quest to find his perfect full course meal in a world of insane creatures and nature (trees that have hotcake blossoms and syrup sap that drips onto them, three-eyes demon worms that spew poison, you know, normal stuff like that, lol). Toriko has god like powers to help him on his quest, though a chef named Komatsu has nothing of the sort and just wants to be the best cook ever. They meet other awesome characters and have gourmet battle adventures. Awe. Some. I have a feeling, like DBZ, this show will go on for a looooooooong while.
If any of these sound even slightly interesting, go watch an episode! Hopefully you like it! ^_^

Here is my Phoenix Wright Big Bang offering! ^_^

Wednesday, February 2, 2011
Eeeeeeeew, snow. It's my first day as a manager and I'm at a new store a bit further away, so of course Snowmageddon had to hit. I've decided to splurge a bit and hire a taxi to take me to work. I suck hardcore at driving in snow, plus my parking lot hasn't even been looked at let alone plowed. So, yey? I've never taken a taxi before, so that will be fun. Kind of.
Anyway, just thought I'd update this thing since I've been crazy slow at doing so. :( I'm working on a Phoenix Wright big bang fic and on a show for youtube, though neither are finished because of this whole promotion thing. And because I opted to play Monster Hunter Tri last night instead of work on them . ^_^
So, how's everyone else's weather going?

1:29AM - Nanowrimo!
Hooray! I have now successfully completed Nanowrimo for the eighth year! I love November! Now I have to get to sleep so I can help my boy and his friends move tomorrow -- but at least I won't be worrying over whether I can get my nano done in time! ^_^

12:02AM - Horcruxes vs. Cheryl
My Deathly Hallows post (because everyone seems to be doing it). Not really a spoiler, just a location name.
So. . . anyone else get a very Silent Hill feeling for the Godric's Hollow section, lol? A guy names Harry wandering around in an empty town that has white stuff falling from the sky. Also mysterious symbols on gravestones. Yeah.
Book 7 was never my fav, and neither was this movie, but I still liked it and look forward to the midnight of part 2. Maybe part 2 will actually make me cry?

1:08PM - Updating. . . whee!
Yikes, I haven't written in this thing for a while. Sorry about that folks. Here's a summary of some recent events and events to come!
-New computer, get! I got myself a mac mini. That may not seem all that great to you guys, but for the past year or so, my netbook has been my main computer as my other laptop was too old to update anymore, thus it could not do much. For apple fans, know that I was stuck at 10.3.9. I couldn't even hook my iphone up to it. :( BUT! Now I am back in the current computer generation! Huzzah!
-Red Wii, coming my way! I have been holding off on getting a Wii until they came out in colors, and now I am finally getting my wish! Ha ha, now I can join everyone else who owns a Wii, lol. But mine will be RED! ^_^
-Nanowrimo! Not much more to say about that save for excitement. I've been kind of doing it wrong for the past six years and only working on one story, but I shall continue to do it wrong until the damn story is done! There's no way I will peter out after six years of hard work on the same story (well, technically six months, but you know. . .)
-Other writing! Haven't really done much of that, sadly, though I did write up a Metroid Other M fic. . . that I never posted anywhere, tee hee. Still It was satisfying to finish a fic.
-Life! Still happy with my bf even after 6 months. :) Still happy with my apartment. Still. . . at my job, lol. Family is healthy and mostly recovered. So, for all intents and purposes, life is pretty good!
-Future projects?? I may have a fun thing on the way, so if you see a youtube video on this journal in the next month or so, do me a favor and watch it. :)
That should do it. Sorry for the long post, but as you can tell I don't do it very often. ;) Besides, I had to warm up my nano chops, lol. Ta ta!

Yikes, I haven't posted in a few months, so I thought I better get back into the lj swing!
Speaking of a few months ago, remember when I did that nonashostowrimo thing? (Not-national-short-story-writing-month,
Now, however, I have decided to promote another fun writing month activity! That activity would be: nonawriachamo, or, not-national-write-a-chapter-month!
I'm thinking since we're already halfway through July, that August would be good. So, if you feel like it, during the month of August you shall write one chapter of any book/story idea you have. It can be the first chapter, the last chapter, or any chapter in the middle. Doesn't matter. Some people have trouble getting that first introductory bit out -- so start somewhere else and see if you like what you wrote! Perhaps that middle chapter will inspire the beginning out of you. Or, if you only have an ending, write that and see if the beginning and middle want to join the party.
Now, after you write your chapter, you shall post it up for others to see and fawn over. That may also inspire further chapters. How can you disappoint your audience, after all?
So, who's with me? If I get enough people who want to do it, I'll make up a community for it, or at least a facebook page! Anyone game? If not, you'll all be subjected to my chapter when I get it done. ^_^
NONAWRIACHAMO. . . take the challenge!
(If any of you know of someone else who has started nonawriachamo. . . don't tell me. I like thinking I have original thoughts, lol.)

11:54PM - <3
So, you know what show still stands the test of time? X-Men the animated series from the 90s. I had my doubts since not every cartoon from childhood can stand the nostalgia test, but X-Men is still awesome!!! ^_^ Now I'm off to go watch more!!

11:55PM - Nonashostowrimo is done!
With ten minutes to spare even, I have finished my nonashostowrimo! Hooray! "Zombie Plan" has reached its conclusion!
How about you guys? Anything great happen? Do you like your story? Do you need help editing it? I do like reading! :)
Thank you to anyone who participated! Let me know if you did and how it went - if you completed a short story, thus winning nonashostowrimo, I shall get you a prize, so definitely let me know. ^_^
Until the next time, keep writing!
Tuesday, March 30, 2010
You know what the great thing about short stories is? They're short! You have one day left to complete nonashostowrimo, but even if you haven't written word one, it's still possible! If you planned to have your characters go to Reno before making it to Vegas. . . screw Reno! If they need to discover 7 crystals but you've only had them find three, do a time skip to the main event. Or, you could end things tragically with a death. The point of nonashostowrimo is to get a short story DONE! You will finish! Take a few hours - even just 2 if that is all you can spare - and write a story with a beginning and end. I believe in you!
If you've finished already, then you're better than I am! I congratulate you on a job well done. You should feel proud that you finished your goal and got a wonderful idea out of your mind and into the real world. On April 1st, I'd love if you wanted to share the story, or you can keep it private. Just writing it is fantastic in itself. :)
So, this is it folks, nonashostowrimo is coming to a close. I hope it has helped you, even if only a little. Good luck, and, as they say in nanowrimo, see you at the finish line!

2:15PM - NoNaShoStoWriMo! Week 2!
What is this? We began week 2 without me writing a note? Well, yes. I'm a bit of a procrastinator and I just moved. . . so there ya go. ^_^
How's it going everyone? Truth be told, I'm not as far as I would like. I've gotten the heroes out of the bathroom and into the thick of a gas station, but that's all. By the end of this week, I should be two thirds done! So I can either get cracking, or perhaps trim down the story some. So far I think I can get cracking, but Final Fantasy XIII did just come out. . . d'oh!
Week 4 of the month is technically supposed to be for revision, and if you can get to that step, I praise you! If you are more like myself, however, week 4 will be the "Oh crap I really need to finish this" week. I shall welcome you to the club. ^_^
BUT! We are still in week 2! There is still a great hope. Get some paragraphs written. Get into the plot or main point of your short story -- you can wait until week 3 to try and resolve anything as long as you can get to what needs to be resolved at the end of this week. Good luck, my friends! My the Writing Gods be with you!

4:27PM - nonashostowrimo day 1
Hey guys! This is day one. The beginning. El starto.
. . . I've got 2 paragraphs. How about you? :)
nonashostowrimo is not about length - it is a short story after all - but it is about getting some writing done! By the end of the first week you should have a third of your short story done! As of today, you should at least have your beginning. One paragraph or one page, whatever your style is. Get it together and get it done!
NONASHSTOWRIMO is GO!
Sunday, February 28, 2010
Hey guys! So, today I am moving! Granted it's only 10 minutes away from home, but I've gathered up al my hordes of stuff and am taking it to cram into a tiny apartment! Huzzah!
However, until I figure out a good plan, I shall have no internet readily available. There's a Panera down the block and I have a netbook, plus my iphone, but that means I'm kind of limited on what I can do/when I can do it online. So. . . yeah.
Still, my own apartment! Yey!
Also! I have not forgotten about not-national-short-story-writing-month! It starts tomorrow (March 1st). Anyone can participate, and I'll post updates and encouragement here on my LJ (I'll title the entries for nonashostowrimo). By the end of the month, everyone should have at least one short story done! ^_^
So, that's my life update! Moving and writing! I'll hopefully report back soon with some pictures of the setup! Depends how lazy I am, teehee. Wish me luck!

11:52PM - Hello!
It's been awhile, yes? But hey, I have great news for this random update! I'm moving out into my own apartment! It's a fantastic place smack dab in the middle of downtown Arlington Heights (a Northwest suburb of Chicago). In fact, it's in the first building built in the city. It's really small (350 sq. feet), but I don't need much space, and the location is more than worth it. So, yey!
Now I just need to buy stuff/pick up stuff from friends and family. I was going to go for a 32"-37" tv for about $500, but then this lovely thing came to my attention, and I'm thinking of spending the extra $200 for an extra 10-15".
Any thoughts on the situation? Should I splurge, or go smaller for my small apartment?
Anyhow, that's what's going on in my life right now. Remember, March is my fun little idea of NoNaShoStoWriMo (Not National Short Story Writing Month), so if you want in, let me know. I'll send you pep-talk e-mails and everything! ^_^
Hope you all are having a lovely day! Huzzah!
Monday, January 25, 2010
So, I've realized the only time I actually set down to write is for nanowrimo lately. That's no good! In an effort to stimulate my writing flow and get some stuff done, I'm thinking of starting a not-national-short-story-writing-month. Perhaps March sounds like a good time to do it.
Now, I'm willing to do this on my own, but as nanowrimo has shown me, writing with other people is just more fun! No hard and fast rules, but does anyone want to join me during March writing a short story? Something original (or fanfic if you really want), and focusing on quality over quantity (quantity being nanowrimo's goal ^_^). Let me know here if you're interested, and if I get enough responses, maybe I'll try to start up a dreamweaver community for it or somesuch!
nonashostowrimo, here we come!

6:57PM - My 2009 in Review
So while other people did worthwhile things in their 2009, I saw a lot of movies. Movies in theatres! I think I saw more movies this year than the past 3 years combined. Maybe 4 years. It was just a "screw it! I'm going to see every movie I want to see instead of waiting around and missing out" kind of year. And so, while you lovely people have posted meaningful things, I will regale you with the movies I saw and about one sentence summing up my thoughts on it! That will be my look back on 2009!
